These are a few things that I incorporate into my daily routine to get the most out of my day and wake with a smile.
Drink water: I try and start each day (especially when I am up for work at 05:45) with a big glass of ice cold water and a cup of green tea. I put the kettle on whilst I am running some warm water in the bathroom and put both cups of my dressing table to drink whilst I am getting ready. I find it really helps to kick start my morning and I don't feel so guilty when I realize I've got to lunchtime without stopping for a top up.
Wash your face every morning and night with warm water: I know some people tend to use face wipes and feel they get the job done but I really don't think you can beat pressing a steamed flannel onto your face at the end of a busy day. It may seem like a small thing, but it's one of the things I look forward to most when I get in. I do this morning and night as it helps get back to basics, so you know your skincare can really get to work.
It is OKAY to do nothing: Although I love making plans and filling my time productively, some of my favorite times are those when I have absolutely nothing planned except to dip in and out of my kindle and drink lots and lots of tea (and probably get lost in the black hole that is my YouTube subscription). Spend some time alone, doing the things that you love.
Exercise: I know this contradicts my previous point, however when you do take time to exercise it really does help to boost your mood and is a great way to up your productivity. Even if you pop on YouTube and roll out a yoga mat to practice your downward facing dog. I find it really boosts my energy levels and makes you feel good from the inside out.
If you are dreading doing something, do it first: To begin with this may seem challenging, but I have adopted this practice and I have found myself feeling more positive about getting the nitty gritty things done. By getting the dreaded tasks about of the way first, it means when your energy levels start to dwindle later in the day you won't mind doing the things you were looking forward to.
