Truthfulness equals longevity

How truthful you should be in a relationship is a debate that we’ve all had at least once in our lives. However, not everyone has the same opinions on what is too truthful. Some people believe little white lies are okay in a relationship. Some people think that an indiscretion with another person should be covered up for the sake of their partners feelings. However, people in happy relationships know that lies build up and always come out in the end. Be truthful from the start and save yourself a lot of pain further down the line.

There is nothing more important than listening

Maybe, further down the line, you may hit a big stumbling block, like a death in the family or miscarriage. Or maybe that happy relationship will become an unhappy relationship through no fault of your own. If you have been practicing good communication from the start, it will be easier to maintain this through difficult times. You’ll also be well-prepared in the event you need to speak to a counsellor, health professor or divorce professionals like DivorceGuru.

Spending time alone is necessary

There is no reason spending time alone has to cost you money. Sure, taking a vacation from time to time is a very good idea. But while you’re saving up, there are still tons of ways you can spend quality time together without spending a penny. Turn off the TV, get out an old board game and spend an hour or so chatting and playing together. Sleep in for an hour less on a Sunday morning and take a walk in the local park. If you do have the extra funds, try out some new activities, just the two of you. You could rent a boat to take out on the lake at your local park, or go to a spa.

Keeping affection alive is crucial

When we’ve been with someone for a while, they can start to feel more like a best friend than a partner. Similarly, once we’ve lived with somebody for a while, they can start to feel more like a roommate than a life mate! Keeping your relationship affectionate is important. You can accomplish this, however, feels natural to you. Keep your pet names exclusive to your partner; ‘Honey’ doesn’t mean much if you call everyone it! Be physical; touch, hug and caress wherever and whenever you can within reason.

Sharing in a Relationship is caring

Sharing in a relationship goes both ways. If you’re in a relationship, it means that you’ve agreed to help support that person no matter the circumstances. However, it is just as crucial to share the good things that happen. You should never have to worry about making your partner feel jealous. Jealousy can tear apart a relationship in no time. Rather, share the glory of your achievements with one another. Look at it this way; if they won the lottery, you’d be thrilled for them, right? This should be the same even for the smaller things; from a refunded parking fine to a small job promotion. In a relationship, it’s good to remember, there is no his and hers, it’s Ours.
