This is it.
This is the most basic routine possible I can give you to ensure healthy, glowing skin.
If you did this routine two times a day, every single day, you would see a difference in your skin within two weeks. It is remarkably easy to follow, and should take no more than 3 or 4 minutes to complete. The key to success with this routine is consistency.
Last year, $170 billion (yes, with a “b”) dollars were spent on skin care products and cosmetics in an effort to “fix” or cover up some type of skin issue. We are constantly exposed to advertisements selling “the-next-greatest-skin-care-technology,” or product.
Next time you are on Facebook, check out the side column. If you are a woman between the ages of 15 and 64, it is likely that the ad you see is skin related. It is easy to find yourself purchasing the advertised items in the hope that “maybe” this is the product that is going to make my skin fresh looking again.” –insert your own adjectives.
I’m sorry to say this, but if you do not already have a solid, basic skin care routine in place, no amount of “new” product is going to work as effectively as it could. So, without further ado, I present to you the most basic and effective skin care routine to set the groundwork for results.
The Personal Skin Solutions basic skin care routine
Two times a day:
1. Cleanse
Use a cleanser that is indicated for your skin condition. Apply a quarter-sized amount of the cleanser to damp skin, and gently rub it all over the face and neck, using small, upward circles. Rinse completely. Repeat. Yes, doing it two times does matter. The first cleanse gets rid of the daily grime, the second cleanse works on cleansing the pores.
2. Tone
Preferably, your toner can be spritzed on. If so, spritz all over your face and neck with a light misting. If your toner needs to be applied with a cotton ball, then do so, all over the face and neck.
3. Moisturize
Apply a quarter-sized amount of moisturizer all over face and neck, while skin is still damp from the toner. If, for some reason, the toner has dried, re-apply it and cover immediately with the moisturizer. If you like, gently massage the moisturizer into to the skin for added benefit.
4. Sunscreen
Sunscreen should not be worn at night; however, it should be applied every morning, and reapplied often if you are outside. If you are in an office all day, you still need to apply it in the morning.
Sunscreen is a skin health deal-breaker.
What do I mean by that?
Simply put, if you are not willing to put it on every single day, do not waste your money on skin care or cosmetic products. The products will never work effectively because they are not designed to work on compromised skin. The ultra violet rays of the sun compromise the integrity of your skin.
That’s it.
That is the most basic routine that can improve your skin, and keep it healthy, glowing and gorgeous. Remember, this is just a foundational routine so that you can create some skin care “best practices.” There are other techniques, tools and products that can be incorporated, but it is always best to get a handle on the basics first.
If you are not already doing this routine everyday, exactly as described, then I encourage you to do so, and give it a whirl for 14 days. If you have any questions about this routine, or the products involved, feel free to contact me or leave a comment.
