30 Minute Pretzel Buns

Pretzel Buns

Have you been seeing all the great burgers and hot dogs at restaurants using pretzel buns? So have I. I wanted to make some at home and I even found a recipe for it from a new blogger friend’s blog but as you know, I’m still practicing making bread and most things are a little out of my league at this point. But because of my mini-cinnamon roll recipe using Pillsbury Pizza Dough, the nice people at Pillsbury sent me three really great coupons. See:

I promptly took those coupons out and spent them and while I was there I bought some more Pillsbury French Bread because those Tex-Mex Bierocks were fantastic and I wanted to make some more. Then, as I was sitting watching those two goofy guys on the Sonic commercial (Sonic is an Oklahoma company by the way) I got to thinking that I could probably do a fairly decent job if I could use Pillsbury to help me out. So – I winged it. I knew the basics of making pretzels, only because I had read about it somewhere so I got to work this morning. I am flabbergasted that it worked and worked so well! These were so great and Mr. Picky Eater and I had a delicious dinner just now with fresh pretzel buns that took less than 30 minutes to make – you can do it too!

This is about all you will need:

Pretzel Buns

1 Can Pillsbury French Bread

Non-stick spray
3 Cups water
Coarse Sea Salt

Directions:

Put 3 Cups water in pot and begin heating. After hot stir in baking soda until dissolved and bring to boil.

Open can of French Bread and cut into three equal slices.

Make tiny cuts across top of all three pieces.

If making hoagie buns, slice all the way through.

When water it boiling, lower one piece at a time with a slotted spoon allowing to sit in water for 10 – 15 seconds then flip over.
