Chihiro a struggling 10 year old girl who is moving to the suburbs with her parents, wanders into a world that is ruled by gods, witches and sprits as well as humans being turned into beasts!

Original title* Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi *

Spirited Away has been on my watch list for what I can only admit as years at this point, I have tried a few times to start watching it but felt as though it needed my full attention. I am very pleased that I eventually managed to watch it and throughly enjoyed it from start to finish. It is a delightful film that has some great animation styles used and some very unique characters.

Chirhiro had been difficult towards her parents as she did not want to move to the small town and when they take the wrong turn and end up at an abandoned amusement park. Her parents find a restaurant with great smelling food and decide to pay later when they cannot find any staff. Chirhiro wanders off and explores the area, meeting a boy named Haku, she is told her parents are in danger and they must all leave immediately. It was too late though as she returned she finds her parents have turned into pigs. She must then embark on a quest to get her parents changed back and return to the human world.

This means she must battle with the evil witch Yubaba and rely on Haku to help as she attempts to restore her family. The journey making her realize the mistakes she had been making and the attitude towards her parents. It really is an incredible story with a really rich plot and plenty of characters, which is remarkable when knowing that it was not made with a script!

Spirited Away (2001) Review

That above quote is easily one of my favorite from any films now as well, I had seen it before watching the film and it just hits so hard in so many ways. I as totally felling that during my trip to Japan earlier this year as well. It really should be one of the ways to approach your life and do everything possible in an attempt to be happy!

It really is an extremely deep story and throws in many different creatures to make you really think about those fine lines between reality and dreams. Reminding you to make the most of your life and the people in it.
