On balmy summer evenings after a long day at work, is there anything more satisfying and refreshing than an ice-cold Gin & Tonic? Yeah, we didn't think so either, as it's become a definite go-to whenever boozy refreshment is what we're craving (and Whisky Highballs too, but that's a subject for another video).
As our love for this drink has grown, so has our love for what makes a well crafted one, i.e. kick-ass Tonic Water and superbly crafted Gin. Fever Tree is our Tonic Water of choice, and on today's video, we'll be discussing a Gin from Tel Aviv, Israel's Milk & Honey Distillery which they call Levantine.
Before we get to the video, here's what Milk & Honey Distillery has to say about their Levantine Gin:
Our gin starts the same as our single malt series - 100% pure malted barley that's mashed in-house and distilled in our pot still. Then we add a heap of Juniper and botanicals, hand-sourced from Tel Aviv's Levinsky market: origanum syriacum, lemon peel, orange, chamomile, verbena, cinnamon, and black pepper. We then let the botanicals rest in the still for 48 hours and then distill for the third time in our 250L pot still, for extra smoothness. 46% abv./92 proof.Given the rising popularity of Israeli cuisine (we've been to many a Michael Solomonov restaurant in Philly, and let's just say that they are well worth a visit!), we were excited to try this spirit which is made with a plethora of Israeli ingredients.
