So where have I been?

Right here! Where have you been?

;)

Seriously, I did take some time off, but I haven’t completely abandoned my blog, my fans, or running for that matter. I’ve been working out indoors on my mini trampoline and it’s been really fun. Kind of nice to be indoors, close to my bathroom and refrigerator too!

The long run I did a while back kind of took a lot out of me, and then it got pretty hot here in my town as well. And I hate running in the heat….I really do! So I got lazy for a bit, but now I’m getting back in the swing of things.

I’m probably not going to race anymore this year, but will post as soon as I hear about one that I’m training for!

:D

I’m still open to guest bloggers posting on here; if you’re interested, follow and DM me on twitter. I’m at @hockettruns.

Bananas are the new coffee

I was an absolute zombie yesterday. I got up and made some coffee then hopped on to Twitter and Facebook to see what was up. Then I began feeling tired….not good! I thought, is the coffee making me tired? It was….I read an article (I wish I could find it again) online that says that coffee shrinks blood vessels and increases your heart rate, and it is also rushing to metabolize all that caffeine (using a lot of energy) which makes you tired. Not only that, but it is making you dehydrated, which also makes you tired.

The solution? For me it was a banana (or two) and some water. Then perhaps I’ll drink a cup of coffee before starting my day. The potassium gives energy and mental alertness and the water wards off dehydration, and it also causes me to feel calm. Along comes the caffeine and my heart rate is lower and my system is juiced. Ready, set, energy!

So in my house bananas are the new coffee; and we eat 2-3 of them every day! Thought you’d like to know….

;)

Have a run-filled day everybody, talk to you soon!
