It’s not often you’ll find me admitting I’m wrong, but in this case; I’m going to. When I spotted this foundation in a blog sale for a mere £15 instead of the RRP of £30, I knew I had to give it a go after hearing countless raving reviews about it. Big YouTubers, close friends, everyone and their dog seemed to YSL Touche Eclat, but when I first tried it… I was let down. It didn’t live up to the claims people had told me and it clung to my dry flaky skin like nobody’s business, however now my skin has improved tenfold I can happily say it was my skin that was the problem, not the foundation.
Now some may say clinging to dry, flaky skin is a problem with the foundation, but in my experiences I’ve found most products to do this and it’s something I’ve just kind of got used to so doesn’t bother me so much. On a particularly bad day I just wouldn’t use foundation and opt for a hydrating BB cream instead, but it is something to bare in mind before splashing out on the YSL Touche Eclat foundation as if you do have little dry patches it will mostly like cling to it. I’m struggling with it way less now my skin has improved through the use of chemical exfoliants, so now I feel like a whole new world of makeup has been opened up to me that I couldn’t try before.
To me this has all the properties a great day to day foundation needs; a good color match for my pale skin, I’m B10 and it’s pretty good, long-lasting, glowing, and very natural looking. The last one there is what really does it for me, I hate to look too made up if I’m not going somewhere special and this is exactly what I like for everyday, light-medium coverage but it still could be my skin. The glow factor is definitely there, as soon as I put this on my whole face looks more radiant, without looking too shiny like the ‘I’m actually pretty sweaty’ face we all want to avoid. It lasts nicely all day, it’s not super long wearing but for an average 9-5 day I think it’s fine, maybe with a bit of powdering halfway through the day though. I don’t think it has SPF in it, but don’t quote me on that, and either way it’s still not something I’d opt for if I was going out for the night and wanted to look a little more perfected. Purely because it can get a little shiny and it’s not the greatest coverage, so I don’t think it would do well with flash photography! Just to let you know this does smell pretty heavily scented, in a nice way though, it smells the same as my YSL Youth Liberator foundation so I’m guessing it’s just a YSL foundation thing.
Overall – a great little purchase! It’s made it’s way sneakily into my everyday makeup drawers and become a firm favourite, but does it beat the Youth Liberator? For me… it’s a no!
p.s that huge gap between the last photo and the text is really annoying me, it doesn’t look like that in the WP admin area so I don’t know what to do! If anyone else has updated WP and worked out how to fix it, let me know!
