So I was in Hannover getting my hair done quite late. It took half an hour and three translators trying to understand what I wanted done (ending finally with me saying "just do whatever you normally do, I think that is the safest") and then we finally started at 6pm, finishing with my hair a lot more blonde at 8.15pm.
Perhaps it was a mistake to go blonder, as my already ditzy self only turned ditzier on the train home and I nearly ended up in big trouble. I didn't get off at the right stop to change trains, because I thought my train would carry on to the station where my car was. Well, no, I could sense myself moving further and further away from where I needed to be, so got off about 4 stops away from where I thought I should have changed.
I had to wait for 20 minutes for the next train to take me back exactly the way I came, so ate my dinner (a roll with chicken) happily whilst having other safe-looking people around me also waiting for the train. When I got on the train, I got the name of the stop mixed up as 3 stations all have similar names, so I got off at the wrong one again. Only when the train pulled away I looked around and realised I was in the middle of absolutely no where, with not a sould to be soon. There was a measly piece of paper stuck on a board that told me that the next train was in half an hour. Great, stuck alone with nobody around at 9.30 at night. What worried me was if someone did come along, and they were the wrong kind of person...
So finally a train came, and I got off at the RIGHT station finally. But then the next misfortune appeared when I looked at the timetable, and the next train to where my car was came in just less than an hour, at 11pm. No thank you I am not waiting at a train station by myself late on a friday night where there are people from age 13 (no joke) to age 50 scattered around their favorite drinking spot. I certainly felt unsafe, like when a group of boys walking in front of you keep turning around one by one to look at you, you know it's not good news.
If you are wondering why I just didn't call for a taxi, well I didn't have a taxi number, and they often don't speak english so would be difficult to explain where I am seeing as I hardly knew myself, and I had no money and there were no machines in sight. I could have been 50km or 5km from my finaly destination, I had no idea, therefore didn't know whether it would cost 10 euro or 60 euro. But to my luck when I walked outside this station which I knew was quite close to where my car was there was one lone taxi there, but was about to pull off. I ran over, and asked if it was free.
The woman said she had an order but would come back, but I did my "please help me I am going to die if you leave me here alone in the dark" face, and she let me come with her to pick up the people she had on order who wanted to go to Hannover hospital. So back into Hannover I went, having a nice chat in the safety of a car. I got driven all the way back to near home where my car was, and the lovely driver wasn't even going to charge me but I insisted so we found a bank machine so I could give her something. She gave me her email address and number too so I can contact her and she can help me learn German! How amazing is that! She was genuinely such a sweet lady, I will be forever grateful to her for saving my life :)
