You Learn by Alanis Morissette.

Posted on the 17 July 2012 by Melodicwisdom

This wasn’t one of my favorite songs by Alanis but I remember hearing it on the radio a lot growing up. Listening to it now, I have a completely new connection to the lyrics. It’s about taking chances and learning from your mistakes with no regrets. The chorus says it all, You live you learn, you love you learn, you cry you learn, you lose you learn, you bleed you learn, you scream you learn.

You Learn was released as a single in July of 1996 from her third album, Jagged Little Pill. She mentions the title of the album in this particular track as well. The lyrics were written by Morissette and Glen Ballard. It was very successful on Billboard making #6 on Hot 100, #1 on Pop Songs, and #7 on Alternative Songs.

Above is a live performance from MTV’s Unplugged.
