Yogurt bowls are all the rage on Pinterest these days. In truth, they're nothing new - simply yogurt scooped into a bowl with a variety of toppings like fruit, nuts, coconut, etc.

But I have to say, it's fun to think up toppings, and with apples in abundance this time of year, they make a fresh topping for these 5 Ingredient Friday yogurt bowls.

I'm fortunate that my friend, Tracee, has a hubby who grows apples by the bushels and she's willing to share their hard-earned pickings with me. The apples are tart and so fresh that the leaves are still attached to the stems!

Cooked with a little water, cinnamon, and a hint of honey, they make a tart and spicy addition to my plain Greek yogurt.

After tossing healthy walnuts with honey then toasting them in a pan, these yogurt bowls are packed with healthy fats, protein, calcium, fiber, and just plain super delicious. Perfect for folks not wanting to whip up smoothies!

Shake It Up!

Swap pears for apples, and if you really want to get fancy, grind some nutmeg or add a pinch of cloves to your apples and walnuts. Almonds would be a nice swap for almonds too. Try this lower sugar homemade granola recipe with your apples if your in the mood to whip up a batch of fresh granola.

Have a terrific weekend!

Products I used for this recipe - Make quick work of slicing apples with this slicer from Amazon. It slices and cores at the same time and costs just a few dollars. If you decide to make a purchase, Amazon will pay me a commission for it. This doesn't cost you anything additional. These commissions help support the cost of authoring this blog, so thank you!
