Yesterday, I Met a Kitten.

Yesterday, I met a kitten.

We live in a very pet friendly neighborhood. Everyone has a dog or a cat. People are always out walking their dogs and you always see the same few cats running around.
Yesterday, I got home from work and there was a kitten sitting in my yard. I had never seen this kitten before, so I walked up to it and it started to pur and rub against my shoes and legs. I pet him for a while and then decided he probably had a home nearby. As I walked to my house, the kitten perked right up and started to follow me. I made my way to the porch, so did the kitten. I opened the door and the kitten ran right inside, making himself at home. The dogs were downstairs luckily, so they didn't bother the kitten. Shia has only ever met one cat and Shia lost their epic battle and came away with a pretty scratched up face.

He did a good job making himself at home. He ran all over the house and rubbed against the walls, jumped on the bed and perched on the stools. He was so happy! For a brief moment I was convinced I was keeping this kitten. I picked him up and finally called Jared. Jared's response (as always when I bring home animals) “We can’t keep him. You can leave him on the porch and when I get home we can find out where he lives.” Crushing my hopes and dreams, even though I never really dreamed of owning a kitten.
Yesterday, I met a kitten.
As I was talking to J on the phone, my next door neighbor, a 6 year girl, appeared on her balcony. She started to point to me and tell me she knew the kitten. I hung up on Jared and told the little girl to meet me in the front yard. She took the kitten from my arms and cradled him like a baby. We started our journey to the kitten's home, which is only about 5 houses away from mine.
Yesterday, I met a kitten.
There was a lady outside on her balcony with her 2 cats, I shouted up and asked her if she recognized the kitten. She said “Oh yes, that’s Mr. Darcy, he lives next door.” We walked to the front yard and the garage was open about 6 inches, so we put the kitten next to the garage and in he went.
I was a little sad, I was hoping Jared was going to get a kitten for his 30th birthday! #worstpresentever
