Only 6,000 cases of this Yellowstone Family Recipe Bourbon 6 Years were released to the market and while that sounds like a lot, it’s really not. That’s just 36,000 bottles of this limited run for the entire bourbon-loving community. And that’s a tragedy.
If it were bad it would be a blessing. If it was terrible, 6,000 cases would be 6,000 too many. But this, spoiler, is good. So good, I immediately went out to find a bottle after I finally got around to reviewing it and you know what I found? Nothing but a lot of Sold Out signs hanging in digital shops. I guess the word is already out.
Now, let’s get to drinkin’!

Yellowstone Family Recipe Bourbon 6 Years – Overall Thoughts and Score
Hands down, this is my favorite release from Yellowstone to date. Yes, the annual releases are good, but this isn’t just good it’s a standout in the category across all the senses. It’s complex, it’s interesting, it’s unique… it’s memorable. This is something you won’t fully find anywhere else but in this bottle.
The Wathen’s Single Barrels do have a similar grassy note, and that’s what first came to mind, but this has an earthiness from the oak and leather notes, richness from the spice and dessert notes, a brightness from the fruit and a twisting layer of intrigue with that Earl Grey/bergamot note that threads through. In a nutshell, this Yellowstone Family Recipe Bourbon 6 Years is as fantastic as it is unique.
SCORE: 4.5/5 (very good, highly recommended ~ A- | 90-93)
