WWW WEDNESDAY | #31
It's time for this week's WWW Wednesdays, hosted by Should Be Reading blog (head over and check them out!).
This link up asks three questions
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What are you currently reading?
  • What do you think you'll be reading next?
Here are my WWW answers!
What did I recently finish reading?

I finished both of these while on vacation, and while I wasn't as crazy about The Vacationers as many other reviewers, I enjoyed it. She Is Not Invisible, on the other hand, I loved. It's not a difficult book, nor is it particularly dense (it felt more like middle grade than young adult to me), but the characters are wonderfully written and their love for one another and for their missing father makes the story's many suspenseful moments all the more compelling.
What am I currently reading?

I started Ordinary Thunderstorms while on vacation, and while I want to know what happens in the book (it's a thriller with plenty of suspense) I am really struggling with the main character, who seems to not only make some epically terrible decisions, but isn't really all that likable. The plot also meanders a bit slowly for my tastes, and I'm nearly halfway through with only one or two big plot points having occurred. Since I feel like it'll get worse before it gets better (if it gets better) I keep finding myself reaching past it for other books.
Like Hearts and Minds, which is also set in London and full of characters I really feel something for. It's a heavy book, hard to read at times, but important. It shows lives and sides to the city not usually seen, being written from the perspectives of 5 characters - only one of whom is a native Brit.
This Is Where I Leave You is one I've been reading here and there because I'd like to have it read before the movie comes out. So far it's been a bit of a tough one for me - I always struggle with infidelity - but I can see that there is the potential for humor and messy characters learning about themselves and one another, all of which is appealing. So we'll see where it goes!
What do I think I'll be reading next?

It's always hard to say what I'll read next, so chances are I actually won't  read either of these next, but I'm thinking about it, which is about as definitive as you'll ever get! I started Major Pettigrew on the plane and while I decided to finish a couple of other books before really diving into it, I certainly did like how it was written and feel a lot of potential in the characters. The Bone Clocks is one I'm more than a little intimidated by, but I'm going to give it a shot (though I imagine it will end up much like The Goldfinch, which I've been reading since Christmas and still haven't finished!).
What about you guys? What have you finished recently, and what's on your bedside table right now? Anything I need to check out immediately if not sooner? Do tell!
