Woman Launches Diamond Ring into Space

By Raymondleejewelers @raymondleejwlrs

Naturally, most women do not appreciate keeping reminders of an ex-boyfriend or ex-husband. Some opt to give items away to a local charity; others opt to sell jewelry in question and make some money off of them. Rebecca Gibbs, however, decided to do something different. With the help of her partner’s brother, who is a rocket scientist, Rebecca Gibbs attached her wedding ring to a homemade rocket and shot it off into space.

While this can be an entertaining, enjoyable and even effective way to “ring out the old and ring in the new”, you have to ask yourself if it is really the best idea. After all, you could always sell wedding ring and other jewelry that reminds you of your ex and at least make some money off of it. Alternatively, you could give the money to a needy cause of your choice.

This is not to say that there is anything wrong with shooting your old wedding or engagement ring (or any other old jewelry, for that matter) off into space. In terms of personal enjoyment, the event could be priceless. Furthermore, there is no way of knowing just how much Ms. Gibbs would have fetched for her old ring, as wedding rings vary greatly in value depending on the metal the ring is made from and the type, number and size of jewels used.

On the other hand, if you want to sell jewelry from an old relationship that you would rather forget, it is not hard to do so. There are numerous jewelry sellers that are happy to purchase gold and silver jewelry, no questions asked. Alternatively, if your ring or other jewelry items are quite costly, you may want to keep the items in question and then sell them when the value of gold and/or silver is high.
