Wisecracking Wednesday: Stay at Home Mom Guilt

By Sassysweetstyle @ChaniaB

The last few weeks I have had Stay at Home Mom guilt like crazy.  I think it’s because we have a few extra bills during this time of the year & vacation to pay for, so I have to really watch our spending. Either way, I needed a pick me up to remind me that I’m still contributing financially even though I’m not bringing home an actual paycheck.  HUGE kudos to those women out there who do it all! :)

What made you smile today?

On a serious note, these are some easy & minimally time consuming activities I partake in that earn/save extra money in addition to looking for sales/using non-extreme couponing.

Shopkick

It’s a free app that you receive points known as “kicks”  to view look books from retailers {such as Target, Gymboree, Best Buy & Home Depot}, walk into stores, scan specific items & earn credit for money you’re spending anyway in specified stores.  You can reward yourself by cashing in your kicks for gift cards to Target, Sephora, Starbucks & even Coach! So far I’ve earned $15 & I’ve only had the app for 2 months.  I never go out of my way to visit said stores unless I happen to be in the area.  It’s WONDERFUL!

ibotta

You get money deposited into a paypal account for purchasing items on their list.  All you have to do is scan your receipt & the product purchased & they put the money into your account to move to your paypal whenever you are ready.  I don’t use this as often as I would like because they don’t always have brands I use. But it is nice to get the money back when they do have the brands I buy!

Crowdtap

If you don’t mind taking surveys, this is WONDERFUL.  I probably spend about 5 minutes a day answering yes/no/multiple choice questions, & in return you get points which turn into entries for gift card drawings.  Last month I received $10 in Amazon gift cards {sent via email}, but had the potential for hundreds of dollars worth had I been lucky enough to have my name drawn more than twice {which I’m not}. Plus you have opportunities for freebies from select companies for your time!

Target Cartwheel

I love, love, love Target.  When they released their Cartwheel program I was ecstatic! Not only can you still use their in-store & manufacturer coupons, if the item you’re purchasing is in the Cartwheel program, you get additional savings.  Add that to the savings from your REDcard, you’re leaving Target with a lot less damage! Don’t have time to pregame before you go? You can look everything up on your phone & have the cashier scan the barcode at the register.

What apps/programs/techniques do you use to make your dollars stretch?
