Software giant Microsoft Corporation has launched pre order of its upcoming operating system Windows 8. The best part of the story is price of Windows 8 which is much lower than Windows 7. Users can pre-order a DVD pack for $70. Alternatively they can wait to download the same for $40 on October 26, 2012, official launch date announced by Microsoft Corporation.
Windows 8 can be pre-ordered at Microsoft stores, Amazon.com, Best Buy, Staples and other authorized retailers.
Customers who purchase a Windows 7 pre-installed PC between 2nd June 2012 and 31st January 2013 will get even bigger deal. They will be to upgrade to Windows 8 Pro for just $15. This seems to be a smart move by Microsoft Corporation to prevent decline in sale of Windows 7 based PC’s before launch of latest version.
Microsoft OEM partners like DELL, Acer, Asus, HP, Sony, Samsung, Fujitsu and other have already started pre-orders for machines with Windows 8 pre-installed.
At the moment Microsoft is just selling upgrade versions of Windows 8 assuming that buyers will already be running a previous version of windows. The only full version available will be System Builder edition. System Builder edition is also opened for preorder for $139.
Windows 8 system builder edition will have licensing terms different from other editions. Once installed, license cannot be transferred to another PC.
