The construction of the skyscraper was announced by a company from the United Arab Emirates - Emaar Properties. It was not revealed how many meters the skyscraper will count. It was only reported that "he would be taller than Burj Khalifa." It is unofficially known that its height is to reach about a thousand meters.

The skyscraper will include both private apartments and a hotel part, as well as - on the top floors - restaurants and a special vantage point. There will be a large courtyard at the top of the skyscraper.

- The Tower is our tribute to the energy and optimism that characterize Dubai and the UAE. It will be a characteristic landmark that will additionally emphasize the ambitions of our country and strengthen the pride of our nation - said Mohamed Alabbar, president of Emaar Properties.

Behind the "The Tower" project stands a neo-futuristic architect with Spanish-Swiss roots - Santiago Calatrava Valls. - The Tower design has a clear reference to the classical art and culture of the place. The project envisages a combination of artistic achievements and technology - said Valls.

The skyscraper will be the central element of the so-called Dubai Creek, the heart of old Dubai. It will cost a billion dollars. Its premiere is scheduled for the Dubai Expo, which will take place in 2020.

The British investment bank Barclays Capital reminds that the construction of the Empire State Building started shortly before the outbreak of the Great Depression in 1929. In turn, Burj Khalifa - was commissioned in 2010, and its construction began in 2004. Three years later, there was another global financial crisis.
