Why You Make Multiple Trips to the Bathroom at Night

By Jakemontgomery @LTDOnlineStores

Waking up with the urge to urinate can be a sign of serious health conditions. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, it is imperative that you take the necessary steps to make sure that you are doing everything possible to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Unlike Enuresis, or “bed-wetting”, the urge to relive oneself in the middle of the night does not result in the bladder releasing itself on its own accord. A wide range of individuals can experience the need to take multiple trips to the bathroom at night. This is not limited to current state of health, gender, or age. In fact, it is not uncommon for this to occur in individuals who have a clean bill of health. So what is the cause of your nightly trips to the bathroom?

Waking up at night because of BPH.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

You may have witnessed late night commercials about a condition abbreviated as “BPH.” Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia is much more common than you might expect so don’t feel like your symptoms are an isolate case! In fact, BPH affects nearly half of men between the ages of 50 & 60. This was proven by a study conducted by the National Sleep Foundation that found that 54% of adults between the ages of 55 and 84 reported sleep disturbances at least a few nights a week.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) Enlarged Prostate

Here’s what is happening. When your body grows older, the prostate becomes enlarged and will begin to squeeze the urethra. This constraint causes you to experience the urge to urinate when you really don’t need to alleviate yourself.

What do I do if I have BPH?

For serious cases of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, medications can be prescribed by your doctor. For most other instances, symptoms can be controlled by modifying an individual’s lifestyle to reduce the urge to use the restroom.

Other Indications

Be sure to consult with your doctor before making any final decisions. BPH can be a sign of more serious health conditions including, heart disease, diabetes, hypertension disorder, vascular disease, prostate infections, and sleeping disorders.

Visit your doctor if you are experiencing symptoms of BPH.

Causes of periodical bouts of sleepless night can also be a sign of less severe complications like constipation, urinal tract infections, or simply the result of you consuming beverages late at night!
