Why OH Why Do I Blog?

By Verybusymama @verybusymama
Good question, right? Three and a half years into this and I'm still not bored. It is the longest I have ever stuck with something — the truth is blogging filled a void in my life by sparking a surge of creativity that had not yet been nurtured.
As a child I enjoyed performing and wanted to act — I wrote stories, used up hours of video to record myself doing monologues and pretending to be interviewed, stayed up late nights making pretty collages to decorate my room and locker and had my own monthly gossip magazine where I was the editor and got to interview all the hottest celebrities (made up of course!) Yet every act, every performance, every collage, every magazine was carefully planned and crafted and delivered with complete candor. I knew I wanted to do this for much longer, I just didn't know how.
Fast forward 20 years and I am my own editor (minus the celebrities), I make lots of pretty collages (hello Polyvore!) and I get to showcase my ideas and essentially perform on a daily basis. The point is that without realizing it, blogging has enabled me to make those dreams come true, but it took me a while to see it that way.
Why am I telling you all of this? Latina Bloggers Connect is giving one member a chance to attend Blogalicious Five in October and I WANT TO GO! They want to know why I blog so here it is — everyone has a story and mine starts across the pond. To make it even MORE clear as to why I do this, I recruited my inspirations — and because you only get one take with kids, the video is as good as it's going to get!

In 2011 I moved back to the US after 6 1/2 years in the UK. I went from a "mummy blogger" to a "mommy blogger" and "mami blogger." The transition from British blogger to US blogger was not an easy one — I had to quickly learn to navigate the US blogosphere which was so different to the calm and relatively unchartered waters of the UK. And blogging as a business? NEVER! I didn't think I was the kind of person who could do that. It wasn't for me.
Thanks to my son I started blogging and now my sweet Lucía has kept me going. He sparked my creativity and she has ignited the business side of me. I am more excited to see what opportunities lay ahead — after all there were so many other dreams I had as a child that are just waiting to become a reality!
This October will be two years since being back in the US and Blogalcious will be my first official blogging conference. It's my time.
¡besos!
