Why Are You So Winded When Jogging?

By Lamamma @LAmamma1

Getting out of breath when you’re working out is totally normal. Unless you’re literally the terminator, your body will need to perform in intervals. This means that for normal people who jog, you won’t be able to run continuously for a long period of time. You’ll jog for the most part, but in between, you’ll tend to slow down and walk off some lactic acid build up or catch your breath again. Then, you’ll start up again and continue on jogging. That’s normal so don’t worry. However, it’s not normal to be out of breath when you have only been jogging for a couple of minutes. Your body may be out of shape but it’s a remarkable network of systems that will know how to react to increased sudden demands. There’s simply no way you should be out of breath in just a minute or so if you are in your correct weight to height ratio and eat a somewhat normal diet.

Don’t forget to stretchOur muscles are like trains, the tissues that make up the muscle are linked together. This means that although one part of the muscle may be active, the opposite end may not be. Sounds strange? Well, if one muscle is stronger, and the other is aloof, this creates a disparity. For example, if you have stronger and more efficient quads than your hamstrings, you will feel cramping in your hamstring first despite using your entire upper leg for a movement. The simple solution is to take your time and stretch. You cannot expect to use a muscle that is used to being sedentary and expect it to function normally. A section of it will only be working, and thus doing most of the work which will cause it, to demand more and more oxygen. Stretch out your body completely before you go jogging. Is it your pumper?

There have been many documented cases of a patient coming to the doctor or clinic for a regular checkup and instead, finding out that they have some kind of heart problem. They feel normal, they don’t notice any signs that this is even relevant to them but some diseases can lie dormant until you are pushed. Just in case you are getting out of breath rather quickly because of this potential problem, go and see cardiovascular specialists who can explain more about your heart’s condition. They will provide cardiac care that looks for and treats, coronary heart disease, atrial fibrillations, hypertension, high cholesterol, congestive heart failure, and more. These can only be done after testing and an evaluation so don’t rely on over the counter treatments.

Airway restrictions
It could just be that you’re getting out of breath quickly because you can’t get the oxygen into your lungs to the levels that you need. Excess mucus can build up when you are breathing in poor quality air, eating fatty foods and when you’re sick. Clean your home to improve your air quality, just don’t go out for runs when you’re suffering from a cold and stop eating saturated fat foods like chips.Jogging is one of the best cardiovascular exercises for many reasons. It’s cheap to do, can be done anywhere and it uses all of your muscle groups. If you are becoming winded and losing your breath too quickly, make some checks about your health before you try again.
