Whose Job is It? Philippine Labor Day Inspired

By Singcolinquisitor @lexuzinquisitor
Every individual has his or her own criteria of happiness. Happiness in its real sense is a state of sustained and comfortable well-being, a life free of worries and anxiety. This state of sustained happiness can be achieved if people have the capability to fulfill their needs on a sustainable basis.  Human Needs can be material needs – money, house, real estate property etc, people needs- relations, friends etc, capability needs- education, skills etc, entertainment needs and etc. Fulfillment of one’s needs ultimately leads to satisfaction – happiness. Familiar with Abraham Maslow's Theory of Human Motivation?   Well then, this article is inspired by the father of Humanistic Psychology, non other than Abraham Maslow, the Philippine Labor Day Celebration on May 01, 2012 and mostly "Whose Job Is It, " a poem/story by (NKJV) based on 1 Cor. 10:13. As a student whose major is Human Resource Management I believe this article will help everyone. So, my question is "Do you love your work?" Loving someone's work or our individual work, brings us a sheer feeling of fulfillment, am I right? So what is there then, when someone do not love his or her own work? Loving one's work is an attitude that every Filipino all over the world embodies. Except for health worker Jonathan Aquino who slaps and beat his patient, now that becomes a clear picture or example of someone who doesn't have the attitude of "love your work." Though I felt sad about it, but he is not perfect, who's perfect? Life is like that, "someone should always learn a lesson the hard way." What makes one individual love his work? The sure thing is, it has something to do with "motivation." Motivation is the key thing that makes work easy, rewarding, fulfilling, because it is the persons inner desire to do things. How is it possible? Figure out what you want and start being who you want to be. Choose the right career path---motivation will stimulate and fuel your passion and desire so that whatever your goals in your life---you can achieve it! Imagine the feeling of carrying a 25kgs. of logs and compare it to carrying your 55kgs.wife up on the stairs to your room after you just got married? The sure thing is you will happily and smilingly carry up your [heavy] wife to your room compared to carrying the [not so heavy] logs which weigh lesser. Therefore, motivation really matters!
Whose Job is It? This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody.

There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it.Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

The moral lesson of the story. "Love your work! and whatever you do, do it with God".
On the other hand, to avoid blaming one another, because we expect that someone will do the job and it end up that nobody does it, job should be communicated carefully and clearly. Of course this is the work of the employer and the Human Resource Development Team, but as a worker you should know your specific role in the company to avoid overlapping responsibilities. That's the reason why job has description and specification.

This May 01, 2012 Labor Day we should acknowledge the hard works that we do to make it this far. Whatever we do, may it be a hard labor and wherever it is. Let's love our work, because its OUR work. Remember the proverb "You reap what you sow?" does this ring a bell? Well, it means you gather what you planted. In its deepest sense, it means you cant escape the consequences of your actions. I am sure every mother or parents told their sons and daughters to go school, but many of us did not listen....so the consequences is---hard labor! So we should learn to appreciate what we have, maybe, in that way we might find happiness and fulfillment not to mention the true meaning of life---
