Whole Foods Fun!

By Marensmorsels @marentweets

Hi friends. This is one late post.

My afternoon was a little hectic and I’m finally sitting down at my computer ready to recap it all.

Fitness

I finally got my bootay through one of my epic elliptical workouts. 50 minutes at level 16.

I’m reading 50 Shades of Grey and, holy shitakes. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same.

Once I got home from the gym I ran a mile. I think this get’s my streak up to 16 days. I’ve never ran that many days in a row before.

After my fitness I hit the showers and got ready for a night out on the {monterey} town.

Grandma turned 79 today at LaLa Grille.

My family, my aunt and uncle’s family and my grandma all got together at a great little locally owned restaurant called the LaLa Grille to celebrate!

I was super thirsty and dehydrated after my huge workout this afternoon. Both those drinks are mine.

Iced tea with lemon (no sugar) and agua.

I ordered the seared ahi salad which comes on a bed of spinach and arugula. It has peppercorn crusted seared ahi, big golden potato wedges, tomato, and kalamata olives. It’s all topped with a poached runny egg. I drizzled some of the raspberry vinaigrette over the top for good measure.

Grandma had a chocolate mug of tiramisu. I was a little envious.

But… my birthday is in less than a month. A big piece of cake is definitely in my future.

A little decaf. I love after dinner coffee.

Happy birthday grandma Nonni!

cousins…

Party at the Whole Foods, yo!

We don’t have a Whole Foods Market in Salinas… or a Trader Joe’s. ‘Nough said.

The Lala Grille shares a parking lot with the Whole Foods in Monterey so I decided to make an impromptu trip through. If I’d have been a better blogger/clean eater/healthy person I’d have chosen some recipes to make and had a plan. But I didn’t.

I decided to do something better! Much, much better. I just moseyed up and down the isles picking out what I thought looked fun and delicious. I’d be lying if I said I had more fun at Disneyland! I had a lot of fun at Disneyland, FYI.

Here’s all my loot.

Everything I bought I can’t get in Salinas! Except for the kale, and probably the nectarines…

Teeccino is a really tasty chocolatey un-coffee tea-like drink. And Coconut Bliss is a coconut milk ice cream to. die. for! My local market has it but only in plain vanilla and dark chocolate moon. The Whole Foods had Cappuccino and Chocolate Hazelnut Fudge. Plus it was on sale so I had to get both of them.

I really love yogurt. It’s probably the most missed diary product in my dairy-free life. I recently tried almond milk yogurt and it wasn’t too bad. Since I’m rekindling my love of yogurt through dairy free milk sources I picked up a blueberry and strawberry coconut milk yogurt to try. I’m sort of a yogurt snob so I’ll let you know how it goes.

Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato soup is my all-time favorite! The 3 white nectarines I spotted on the way in and a Gingerade/Guava Goddess Kombucha tea.

I found dairy free mac & cheese!!!! Did you know most dairy free cheeses have casein in them? Even though they’re dairy free! It’s such a bummer. Casein is a protein in milk and sadly I can’t have it, or whey. When I found casein/dairy-free mac and cheese I had to buy it… make that 2 boxes.

I also picked up another bunch o’ kale. Kale Chips!!!!!

Is is possible to go into Whole Foods and not buy Larabars???

Has anyone tried the newest seasonal flavor: orange float?

Chocolate Almond Butter packets… I will suck the life out of you! Start therapy now.

Such fun!!! I think I need to do this once a week for my emotional health.
