Who in Reality Are Toppers?

By Shivam Ralli @shivamralli167

TOPPER: it doesn't mean anything!
Well, how many of you have faced such scenario , in which, for a while you become so speechless that you don't even know what to reply, the wittiness suddenly disappears from your mind. Well, need not to worry about it, it's becoming standard now-a-days.
In our country the perception of a topper is of one who get 'good grades'. But according to me anyone can be a topper lest they have the following qualities:
T - Thirst for knowledge
O - Optimistic
P - Professionalism in approach
P - Punctuality
E-  Excellent time management
R- Respectful
Most importantly, be yourself. You can never truly be the best person possibly if you try to pretend like someone, maybe he/she can be your inspiration, a role model. But, only follow their passion and courage not their goals and priorities. Copying will only make you the 'next' person but being yourself will make you the 'first'. Topper for some, maybe the person who get good grades, like achieving outstanding marks while  making the best impression on the teacher! - I'm sure you all must have this thought once.
But what about those who are just craving for good grades? Well, you never know, future is unpredictable.
PM of India, Narendra Modi, he is the topper.A person having far intuitive ability, courage, determination, grit, will and power as well, that's whom we call a topper. Not having any PhD's, but still ruling like anything. take the case of Bill Gates, I'm sure you all must have read his success stories and his worldwide famous quote- ' I never topped in the university, but today the toppers of best universities are my employees'

Who in reality are toppers?

Following your passion makes you a topper!

Students now-a-days just take this word so casually. Okay, you are calling someone a topper, but do you really think he/she is? Ponder on this.
You can never give assurance, until you see in the future, does he/she takes this word seriously, is he successful? Successful here means, able to achieve your own goals and priorities.
Second most important thing is that, stop worrying about grades. Perfect grades really only matter in schools only, they are just some weird mathematical combinations which either ruin your lives or make it worse until you are not confident. Grades are not the only foundation basis of your career or your personality. So people relax. It's very unjust to judge or make any sort of statements for a person just by keeping his/her grades, but do you actually look at his/her caliber, passion, very few I guess!
Third, never link intelligence to success. One of the best example is, Einstein, a failure but still remembered. (still many don't understand his work, he is still considered  a topper, we think you know the basics.)
Indian society is such that it favors marks more than anything else. Example- even the relatives you are not aware about will call you on the day of your result to know how much you scored!! (a regular scenario) This situation intensifies if you are brilliant student! (you know!)
Last and the most important thing, don't just stick to studies be an all rounder. Try to grasp each and every opportunity to 'learn'. Learning will only develop your personality and your mind. As our motto states- 'Knowledge is Power', your grades will not decide your future, only your passion and courage will. Exams are just a medium to classify students into, excellent, average and not so good in studies. They just test your memorizing power rather than learning, understanding and implementation of what you have studied in school. BE GOOD IN A FIELD- AND YOU MAY TURN OUT TO BE A TOPPER.
'Be a topper in every field. Never stop learning because life never stops teaching'.
