Which Key Colours Will You Be Decorating With in 2019?

Posted on the 28 December 2018 by Parrotprintcanvas

Whether you’re planning a home move or just know you won’t want to spend all of the Christmas holidays with your feet up, this post is for those of you who have some decorating on the horizon. Every year, the ‘in’ colours for interiors shift a little. And while in 2019 you’ll see lots of familiar shades on the shelves, there are some new hues that you may want to watch out for. After a good number of years with relaxed neutrals and gorgeous greys and millennial pink taking center stage – these are the colours tipped to make a splash in 2019. Will any of these shades end up on your walls?

Nudes

If you’re a magnolia devotee, you may want to step things up a notch and select one of the many nude shades that seek to be a bit better than beige. Nude colours are very on trend for wall covering in the seasons to come. Expect to see lots of sandy, earthy shades and variations on familiar everyday colours such as oatmeal. Just like beige they’re versatile and easy to use as a base for your room, they just have a little more depth and some even a suggestion of texture.

Spiced Honey

In anticipation for the coming seasons, the big paint retailers like to choose their own winning shade that they think will best represent the year to come. For Dulux, this color is Spiced Honey. A calming and earthy hue that can be used to warm up cooler shades or add cooler contrast to richer colours.  This is a very liveable color that would look great in a shared family space.

Tiru

Graham & Brown’s color of the year 2019 is Tiru – a rich, opulent teal that we can’t help but agree will be popular. Teal shades have been very popular in recent years with accent homeware accessories in the shade chosen in many homes. You only need to check what colours a print is offered in on etsy to know that teal is no new color trend. However, this is  a really bold example, which works well alongside eastern influences.

Botanical Greens

Glorious greens aren’t going anywhere this year. We’ve seen leafy printed wallpapers, fabrics and furnishings show that all things green are as determined to stay put as an out of control garden climber. The experts tip there will be more of the same this year, albeit with new prints, patterns and lots of botanically inspired paint colours to tie in.

Living Coral

This bright, orangey peach shade is the new pink in town and is a real supercharged choice in comparison with millennial or blush pinks that have been popular in recent years. Vibrant, warming and lots of fun, Pantone has chosen a surprisingly versatile shade for its color of the year. It’s not a shade that you’re likely to paint a whole room with but it would work really well as a shade fo plush velvet chairs, curtains or personalised canvas prints and art work. Is it a color you’d like to decorate with?

There will of course be lots of contenders for new ‘in’ color as interiors trends emerge throughout the year. But for now, which – if any – of these tipped shades for 2019 would you love or loathe to see in your home?
