What You Can Do to Protect Yourself from COVID Risk on a Flight

Posted on the 01 December 2020 by Health_news

When you travel by air from country to country at this crucial period of COVID-19 due to unavoidable circumstances there will be high level risks. But there have only been "44 cases of COVID-19 reported in which transmission is thought to have been associated with a flight journey" said International Air Transport Association in an interview and National Institute of Hygiene said, "The most likely route of transmission during the flight is aerosol or droplet transmission from the index case, particularly for persons seated in business class."

Even though the air is filtered on airplanes and the viruses are less likely to be transmitted on air travel there is a slight possibility that you can contract COVID-19 as the fight could be a little crowded and you might be in close contact with other passengers for hours but there are ways to minimize COVID-19 risk on a flight and that includes the following steps.

Few Steps to Avoid COVID Risks on a Flight:
    1. Avoid traveling if you are feeling unwell to protect yourself, and other travelers.
    2. Wear a face mask, and hand sanitization concurrently at all times.
    3. Stay seated and avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
    4. Disinfect your seat belt and your personal belongings like your mobile and passport.
    5. Put your belongings in plastic zip bags and wear a COVID-19 safety suit.

Also, airlines around the world have taken safety measures to protect their passengers, and some of them include

Only permitting passengers who carry an RT-PCR negative test report.

Socially distanced seating arrangements and queue management.

Installing their planes with High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters.

Providing hygienic food served on a single tray to reduce physical contact.

They also provide face shield masks and normal face masks.

These precautions will keep you and the passengers around you safe from the infectious coronavirus during a flight.
