What’s the Word: Arroz

Arroz is the Spanish word for rice.  Although typically identified with Eastern cuisine, this ancient grain plays an essential role in the Latin American diet as well, providing a healthy starch to a greasy (albeit delicious) plate of carne asada.  Beans and rice are like Batman and Robin; the Mexican equivalent of peas and carrots.  You can’t have one without the other, or else the bad guys will win.
