So many people are booking vacations to Tuscany. It has become a red-hot tourist destination. Italy isn’t exactly local, so what does it have that makes it worth the long flight? There is actually far more to this little country than you would think and Tuscany quite rightly deserves its place as one of the best vacation destinations in the world. Here’s why:

Italy is in one of the best spots in Europe for easy access to lots of other great countries and cities. The travel links are great, and travelers love being able to move around on a single train ticket. Italy is also the home of art, the Renaissance, music, literature, and the Roman Empire. Because of its central position, each of these was able to spread quickly through to the rest of Europe.

Tuscany is one of the best Italian regions because there is coast and there is beautiful countryside to explore. No matter what you might be looking for in a vacation, Tuscany has it. Pisa, famed for its leaning tower, and Florence, the home of renowned Renaissance art collections are situated in this region too.

Tuscany is the region of variety. You can choose to laze away on the beaches of Elba. The sun and the sea breeze are both warm here throughout the year. Perhaps hiking up a snow-capped Apennine Mountain is more your thing? Action and adventure are certainly plentiful here!

Then there is the rural idyll of Tuscany. Acres and acres of farmland and vineyards offer some of the most beautiful landscapes you’ll ever see. Choose to drive, cycle or walk through the Tuscan countryside.

Food

If you are a foodie, then Tuscany is the place to visit. Each of the regions in Italy has its own signature dishes. In Tuscany, you can find fresh olives growing all over the place. Olives feature in many Tuscan dishes. Tuscany is also the home of the infamous Chianti wine. This is one of the world’s favorite drops. It can be used in cooking, but it is a lovely wine for drinking with good Italian meat dishes. Panzanella is a popular cold bread salad that is served as a side dish with many meals.

In the winter, you may be eating plenty of Ribollita soup to keep you warm. It’s full of hearty foods like cabbage, beans and onions. And for lovers of the T-Bone steak, you really can’t beat the Bistecca Alla Fiorentina.

A trip to Tuscany will guarantee your total immersion in local and European history. The architecture of the cities and towns are so spectacular. Your camera will be working overtime to capture every detail. There are plenty of incredible art exhibitions featuring works you’ve only dreamt of seeing in real life. And for a taste of Italian traditions, you only need to cycle or hike through one of the many quaint villages that are in this region.

Italy is an incredible country and Tuscany is the region you must see if you can only make it to this country once. It is definitely worth the long haul!
