Let's find out!Malta's most beautiful beaches
Thinking about relaxation, the image of a paradise beach with turquoise water and white sand immediately comes to mind - of course, in the company of tropical palm trees. The mood gets better right away. During the holidays in Malta , we do not have to worry about the lack of such wonderful places, because there are plenty of sandy beaches there. The most popular are in the north of the island. The most popular beach is the picturesque Golden Bay beach. Nearby there are also many restaurants and cafes, you can also rent deckchairs or equipment for water sports. Other popular and at the same time beautiful beaches are:
- beach at Għajn Tuffieħa Bay (Mellieha) - slightly more difficult to access, but full of great views. It is also not crowded by a large number of vacationers, so we can enjoy peace. The inhabitants of Malta are also eager to visit this beach, which is the best recommendation. On the top of one of the cliffs there is also a defensive tower from the 17th century;
- the beach at Paradise Bay (on the island of Gozo) - tempts with blue water and beautiful cliffs;
- the beach on Ghadira Bay (near Mellieħa) - is the longest sandy beach in Malta, which is most often visited by tourists. So it can be crowded at the peak of the season. The beach can easily be reached by public transport;
- the beach at Armier Bay (north of the city of Mellieħa) - definitely more intimate, but very charming - with beautiful views of Gozo and Comino.
What is worth seeing in Malta?
When a beach vacation in Malta gets a little bored, it's time to start sightseeing. On the island you will find a lot of different attractions - this is not a place where apart from paradise beaches you can not see much. Malta is an excellent country for both all-inclusive holidays , as well as for all kinds of longer and shorter round trips . Here are the most interesting attractions and places in Malta:
Sightseeing should always start with a thorough knowledge of the capital, where we usually find the most interesting monuments and other attractions. It is no different in Valletta, which offers as many as 320 different monuments. Virtually every building hides some interesting and unique history, and the city is called "the museum in the open air." A trip to the capital of Malta cannot take place without seeing:
- XVII century Cathedral of St. John,
- Palace of the Grand Masters,
- Manoela Theater, which is the third oldest theater in the world,
- 18th century library and numerous palaces,
- Museum of Fortifications,
- Narrow streets of La Valletta,
- Fountains with four tritons and many others.
It is worth mentioning that Valletta has been inscribed on the UNESCO National Heritage List, and is now the European Capital of Culture 2018.
- Blue Grotto - caves carved by sea waves in rocky cliffs
This is another place that you must see during your holidays in Malta - it is located near the town of Wied Iz-Zurrieq. Visiting the caves takes place only from the deck of 9-person boats, and the cost of such a trip is 8 euros. The cruise takes about 20 minutes. You can then admire the beautiful caves, grottos, coves and high cliffs. This is certainly one of those attractions that we will not find anywhere else, and we will also experience a fantastic adventure!
- Island of Gozo
- Mdina - the former capital of Malta called "quiet city"
It is the second largest island of the Maltese archipelago, which lies just 2 km from Malta - a great place for a day trip while in Malta . Definitely worth going to. The island of Gozo is characterized above all by breathtaking landscapes, harsh coasts, charming villages and a large number of baroque churches. Our attention is also drawn to landscapes carved with the power of the element, which were created thousands of years ago. The islanders are well aware of its uniqueness and care for its development - the best proof of this is the status of Gozo as an ecological island.
Visiting Malta is endless - another proof is the city of about three hundred inhabitants, located in the central part of the island. Mdina is the former capital of Malta and a place that is worth seeing with your own eyes. It is important that the city was surrounded by walls and a moat, which is now a charming park. The characteristic high walls that we find in Mdina will give us a bit of coolness on a hot day, as well as an unforgettable aesthetic experience. The narrow streets, where you want to get lost for a moment, to fully feel the unique atmosphere of Mdina, also make a huge impression.
