What Are the Top Gaming Smartphones of 2014?

Posted on the 28 October 2014 by Geekasms @geekasms

With the advances that have been achieved in smartphone technology it is possible for them to be used for working, listening to music and playing games in 2014. These are the top phones for that activity, whether you are playing simple online casino roulette at JackpotCity.org or a game like Need for Speed, with rapid, high end graphics.

Apple iPhone 5S (£549)

While the specs on the 5S are mostly nothing to be sniffed at, the reason this phone is one of the best for gaming is in large part down to Apple’s gaming ecosystem. They still get the best and brightest games first – and sometimes exclusively for the iOS. Beyond this, the Apple iPhone 5S also boasts a 64-chip processor that ensures that even arcade iOS games like Batman Arkham City Lockdown and Avengers Initiative play fast and smoothly on this phone AND choice of 16 or 32 GB internal storage. In addition, Apple provides gaming accessories like joypads and sticks. The downside? The 4-inch screen is pretty small for gaming.

HTC One (£449)

The HTC One boasts a bigger screen (4.7 inches) than the iPhone 5S, and also has high quality stereo speakers, so racing games like Need for Speed roar out of the phone at you. Furthermore the heat-dissipating tech provided with the this smartphone makes it one of the best ones for playing something like poker at an online casino, which can sometimes last for hours at a time, as the phone stays cool in your hands. The 1080 x 1920 resolution (469-ppi pixel density) makes for excellent visual clarity as well, while you can get up to a mighty 64GB of storage space.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (£599)

Samsung’s latest powerhouse is another Android smartphone, boasting the same 64GB internal storage option of the HTC One, plus a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 processor and Adreno 330 graphics processing unit, so games performance level is high – even on games with high quality graphics like Asphalt 8. Thus, this is a phone where you can store as many games as you want and they all play superbly on it, but the killer is the screen. It’s 5-7 inches and has the same resolution as the HTC phone (plus 386-ppi pixel density), giving it both size and quality in its favour. Are there any downsides? Well, it’s no cheap gaming option.

Overall, any single one of these phones will give you great gaming, but it is the Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung that combines everything you need, from screen size and clarity to CPU and storage. The only problem is the price!
