This is a city named for Saint Peter, the patron saint of Peter the Great. But for most, this is Peter’s city without question.
The name has changed depending on who was in power at the time. For awhile this great city was granted to honor Vladimir Lenin but fortunately that has changed. Locals say “Peter” or more correctly, “Piter” and for millions around the world this is their favorite city in Russia.
Peter is beautiful in both summer and winter but since we’re headed quickly towards winter, we’ll start with a winter tour of Russia’s northern capital.
