This is a great idea because it allows people to get an idea of what you want, and gives them a range to choose from. But, you also need to consider other ways of requesting gifts. The first thing you have to do is figure out what you want from people, and this can be tricky. So, I have compiled a list of things you could request as wedding gifts. You can thank me later!
Crockery
Crockery is something that you’re always going to need as a married couple. You’ll want to start a family, and have children. So, to prepare for the future, it might be worth requesting a lot of tableware and crockery. This will keep you well stocked for when you do have children. Maybe even things like a toaster or a microwave would be good choices as well. You may be moving into a new home, and, as such you might need a lot of stuff to kit it out with. So bear this in mind when you request your gifts.
Linen
Because it’s your wedding, you can use this as an opportunity to upgrade a lot of your linen. Think about things like towels, bedding, tea towels and upholstery. A lot of married couples don’t actually request any gifts, and instead, they ask for a contribution towards their honeymoon. Now, this is something you might want to consider doing. Honeymoons can be very expensive so you need help wherever you can get it. Another benefit of requesting money is that people will be able to give any amount. There’s not that obligation to spend a lot because the gifts are expensive. And people will feel more comfortable with that in mind. So, for your wedding, you could do a lot worse than requesting cash for the honeymoon.
Experiences
These days people are becoming more and more interested in experiences of material possessions. So, you might think about requesting a couple of experiences as wedding gifts. These could be anything because there is bound to be a lot of choice. So have a think about the sorts of things that most appeal to you, and add those to your gift list.
When you’re requesting wedding gifts, you need to make sure you are sensible. Don’t take advantage of people by requesting frivolous or expensive things.
