With WeChat communication is not limited to boundaries. This free smartphone app lets you have live chat sessions with friends, as well as with other connected users. There are about 300 million people already using it. It is always on, reliable, truly social and innovative.
WeChat offers text messaging, web chat and voice chat, individually or in a group. The fun part comes when you decide to find random chat partners, who can be right next to you or on the other side of the planet. You can use the Look Around and Shake features to see other available users and their locations.
What WeChat doesn’t do, however, is to connect you with fictional characters (sigh…) or people of the past. But what if it would?.
How would it be like to be able to connect with, let us say, famous people of the past who are still shrouded in mystery? Should any app ever make that possible? If yes, just try to imagine the traffic!
WeChat is so good with connecting though, that we wouldn’t wonder too much to see it crushing one day all common boundaries and actually bringing in our field illustrious personalities to have a chat with. Or at least we can dream so.
Now, more or less jokingly, who would you talk to? Would it be with artists, state leaders, gurus or villains?
If I were given the chance to use a fabulous app to raise the dead – not in zombie form, but their actual living state – I would have quite a list. After a 2-minute brainstorm I stopped, because the ideas were crowding my mental space too much and I don’t want to have to post a countless list here. Therefore, in no particular order, I shall begin with…
Queen Elizabeth I
Queen Elizabeth I - A strong feminine figure throughout the ages, extremely knowledgeable, she would make a good conversation partner not only on political and leadership matters, but also on philosophical ones. I am aware that many would be eager to find out whether she was loyal to her ‘wife’ England, or she strayed with somebody else, but I’d rather be interested in the knowledge she had accumulated and her views of the world. After all, she even had a personal counselor in occult matters!
Vlad Tepes
Vlad Tepes – also known as Dracula – The supposedly vampire leader has a very dark aura around him – was it well deserved or not? His history is stained (or should I say flooded) with the blood of his enemies. I’d do my best to find out whether he lives up to the cruel legend or not.
George Orwell
George Orwell – A visionary, he was paranoid and cynical enough to tell things straight and see the world for what it really was. His insights on the human nature and society were simply incredible and I wish he would still be among us to open our eyes more. This man was clever enough to see what was really happening around.
J.R.R. Tolkien
J.R.R Tolkien: He has delighted generations of literature passionate as well as simple people. The volume of his splendidly intricate literary work is amazing. Unfortunately, he left a few stories unfinished, and I, among many others, am dying to know how he would have continued them. He master of fantasy would surely make for a wonderful, thoughtful, deep conversation partner.
F. M. Dostoyevsky
F.M. Dostoyevsky – I’d put him through an interrogatory for the same reasons as above. He left unfinished one of the greatest books of the world – Brothers Karamazov. It wasn’t his fault though, the poor man just passed away.
