We Don't Need No Stinkin' Sleep

By Theomnipotentq @TheMightyQuinn
After nearly six hours on Sunday night/Monday morning, I was expecting a rather flat performance from the Red Sox on Monday night in Baltimore. Silly me.
One run on five hits the night before. Last night? 15 runs on 16 hits against the hapless O's.
Unfortunately, Tim Wakefield did not get win #185/199, as he ran out of gas in the fifth and the Orioles snatched the lead away from the Red Sox at 7-6. Can't blame Tito for leaving him in as long as he did. He wants to get Wake the team win record as much as anyone.
The Sox took the lead for good with eight runs in the eighth. It was another night for The Second Baseman Formerly Known As Laser Show, Mr. Muddy Chicken Dustin Pedroia. He extended his hitting streak to 16 games, and had three RBI, including a clutch hit in the 8th. ("Muddy Chicken?" I think I need an explanation for that one.)
Dan Wheeler was once again terrific in relief, going 2 1/3 innings in getting the win.
Carl Crawford made a successful return to the lineup, going 2-for-5 with 2 runs scored and an RBI. Kevin Youkilis and Darnell McDonald both had 3 RBI.
The Rays caved in to the Yankees at The Trop, so the Red Sox lead remains at 1 1/2 games.
David Ortiz will sit for the entire Baltimore series, as his suspension was reduced to three games, and it began last night. Kevin Gregg, who started the whole mess at Fenway last week, will likewise miss this entire series as well.
And apparently, a number of Red Sox starting pitchers Like Beer:
