Wax Works

By Fairlylight

Back in the day, I remember the early nineties version of tablescaping was to whip out the wicker placemats and two porcelain candlesticks. Green candles frequently made an appearance, adorned with a ring of silk flowers that were prone to catching fire if the wax dripped. Green Dinner Candles Image sources:: Ruffled | Bertu

However by the mid nineties, the arrival of the Wax Lyrical store to the UK meant the coloured candle was quickly ousted by their more neutral, cream cousin. For years we’ve been stocking up on church candles and regular ivory dinner candles but now it appears things have now gone full circle and the coloured candle is back with a bang!

They can make a real pop to any table and look divine paired and layered with metallics. Tiger do an incredible deal where you can get 3 dinner candles for £1 so you can try out the trend on a shoestring budget.

If going the whole-hog is too scary, how about introducing a subtle grey candle such as this bundle from Nordic House?

Let me know if you’ll be adding a bit of coloured wax to your table this Christmas?
