One of the UK’s finest beatsmiths, Kieran ‘Four Tet’ Hebden took on dontwatchthat.tv’s ‘Beat This’ challenge, the premise of which is to make a beat from scratch in 10 minutes. Using samples from up and coming pop starlet Michael Jackson’s lesser known track ‘Thriller’, Hebden attempts to OH MY GOD I’VE JUST GOT WHY THEY CALLED IT ‘BEAT THIS’. That is brilliant. What? Oh yeah, Four Tet. At first, when he’s playing around with sample arrangement it sounds a bit like someone’s left two YouTube videos playing at slightly different times, but then it really takes shape and the result is, well, you don’t need me to tell you what the result is because it has all been handily documented on video.
