Warm Our Rooms This Winter with HomeServe

By Etspeaksfromhome
I always like a challenge especially with home improvement, interior design and all sorts of DIY.  This past year, I had set myself the goal to learn how to wallpaper, paint, and get creative with making a DIY picture using leftover wallpaper and all sorts. This time around, I used a £50 B&Q voucher to tackle two cold-looking corners of my house.  I gave it a makeover to make it feel warm and snug just in time for Christmas.  Thanks to HomeServe for this Winter Blogger Challenge.  In addition to affecting the ambience, I wanted to also reduce actual heat loss by using radiator reflectors.  This is a thin sheet of foil applied to the wall behind the radiator to reduce heat loss into the wall.  This increases the effective heating power of the radiator and so reduces fuel expenditure. Our conservatory gets very cold during winter time.  So we want to welcome Father Christmas into this room with a rattan star light (Half price £9.50) in the corner of the room.  We have decorated with Poinsettia (£12) and a golden candle with wreath (£1.50) too to make it more welcoming.  Also, we mustn't forget to leave a cup of milk and cookie for Santa!  Warm our rooms this Winter with HomeServeThe other room we want to warm up is our living room.  Our window sill always look very dull and cold.  I have warmed up this area by adding a mini Christmas tree with golden pot (£3) with candles and other decoration.  I bought this white bulb low voltage LED lights (£8) from B&Q and placed them inside the fish bowl.  It creates a festive warm feeling and adds a WOW factor to the room.Warm our rooms this Winter with HomeServeThe last thing I did was to purchase two rolls of radiator reflector foil (£7.50 each).  Remember to turn off the radiator/boiler before you do this in case the radiator is hot.  Have your scissors and glue ready.  Measure the width and length of the radiator removing from the wall.  Cut the foil to fit.  Then apply glue to the polystyrene back.  I used the no nail glue.  It is suggested to use any non solvent adhesive that is suitable for polystyrene.  Wallpaper paste should work too!  Apply the foil onto the wall and use a roller to flatten any air bubbles.  Next put back the radiator!  Job done.Warm our rooms this Winter with HomeServeWarm our rooms this Winter with HomeServeSo what do you think of my transformation?  Do you like it?
Disclosure: I have received compensation to do this challenge.
