Want to Help True Blood’s Tanya Wright Create ‘Hairiette of Harlem’?

Posted on the 06 March 2014 by Truebloodnetcom @truebloodnet

Fans of HBO’s True Blood will know Tanya Wright as Deputy Kenya Jones. You might also recognize this versatile actress from Orange is the New Black (playing the role of Crystal Burset) and The Cosby Show (as Tanya Simpson). Readers might also have read her book Butterfly Rising.

Well, now Tanya is about to star in a new show; a very special new interactive web series called Hairiette of Harlem. The details of this new program are as follows (via Tanya Wright’s Press Release):

HAIRiette of HARLEM [is] an interactive web series about a woman named Hairiette Arms who learns to navigate her sad, funny life via her relationship with….her natural hair! The unique part of the show is that the audience gets to co-create the events of Hairiette’s life and whatever they decide will be written into the next week’s storyline. We’ll also launch a haircare line, where a portion of the proceeds will go to the Actor’s Fund, a 130 year old human services organization that helps entertainment professionals in crisis, need or transition.

How awesome does that sound? Want to hear more? Well, you can view the funding video below:

Alternatively, you can visit Rockethub and participate in this project by donating in order to get this fabulous concept up and running. You can help out by clicking here. As a further incentive, for the remainder of the fundraising campaign, Tanya will be releasing an essay a day from her upcoming book, I FOUND GOD IN MY HAIR: 98 spiritual principles I learned from…my hair! You can also follow her blog here to find out more about this project.

Finally, Tanya is letting all you Trubies know that even with her Hairiette of Harlem project, she will still get the time to show up in True Blood Season 7! So keep an eye out for Deputy Kenya Jones because Tanya had this to say about her in Season 7:

Watch for the return of Deputy Kenya Jones in Season 7 of TRUE BLOOD. She’s in rare form! Trust me, you’ll be glad you did :)
