Vitamins are the important part of the diet. Most of the people take vitamins because of their bad eating habits. But actually, taking supplements increase their health problems risk. People mostly unaware of what they are taking and thinks that these supplements help to get the nutrients they required for their health. Often we feel that taking vitamins is good for our health. But as per research studies, it is observed that supplementing with some minerals and vitamins may be harmful for our health.

Nowadays, so many vitamins and supplements are advised to take and it is very difficult to know what is really needed for you and most importantly, what you do not require. If you think that after taking vitamins, supplements, you can easily prevent diseases like heart disease or cancer, then it is not totally true.

Here we discuss which vitamins you really need and you should take.

  • Vitamin A  – Deficiency may cause night-blindness and keratomalacia
  • Vitamin B1 – Deficiency may cause beriberi, Wernicke-Korsakoffsyndrome
  • Vitamin B2-Deficiency may cause ariboflavinosis

  • Vitamin B9-Deficiency may cause pregnancy deficiency linked to birth defects
  • Vitamin B12- Deficiency may cause megaloblastic anemia
  • Vitamin C  – Deficiency may cause megaloblastic anemia
  • Vitamin D  – Deficiency may cause rickets, osteomalacia
  • Vitamin E – Deficiency is uncommon. May cause mild hemolytic anemia in newborns
  • Vitamin K- Deficiency may cause bleeding diathesis

The best way to have vitamins is – eating raw, whole, organic plant foods. When you do not eat a healthy diet, then taking multi mineral, multi vitamin high quality whole food is worth. Vitamin D is best, when you do not get sunlight. You need to eat fresh fruits and vegetables available in all colors, so that body functions properly and protect against any illness.

  • Natural, fresh, whole food like raw greens, vegetables, fruits contain all necessary nutrients, which our body requires for good health. Whole foods contain anti-oxidants, enzymes.
  • Include two fresh vegetables and two fruits in every meal. It is necessary to eat all varieties of foods, so that you can get the minerals and vitamins you need.

  • Sprouts, colorful fruits, colorful vegetables.
  • Whole grains like brown rice.
  • Raw nuts like almonds.

Vitamin D- Getting vitamin D supplement is great for the people who has vitamin D deficiency. But it depends on climate. Sometimes your body makes sufficient Vitamin D if you live in one particular place like Honolulu. But if you live in another place like Seattle, you might not.

Calcium- Calcium makes our bones and teeth strong. Instead of taking calcium alone, take it with bone support minerals.

Fish Oil- Fish oil help your skin look young. Omega 3 acid in fish and fish oil help to prevent skin aging.

Magnesium- Magnesium help in muscle relaxation. It gives energy. Take absorbable magnesium.

As per the research, taking vitamins may not be good for your health and in some of the cases it may be harmful. Multivitamins do not have any beneficial effect on cancer or other diseases.  Instead of taking pills, the best way to get vitamins is by eating them. If you have a vitamin deficiency, then consult the doctor. He will suggest you supplement. The bottom line is healthy person do not need any vitamins. Instead of taking supplements, focus on eating vegetables and fruits, which gives you the same health benefits.
