London has always been fit to burst with things for people of all ages to do. It’s by far the most entertaining city in the UK in terms of sheer activities, and Easter weekend represents a great time to head down to the capital with the family. Here are some of the most interesting events taking place during April in London:
Vikings: Life and Legend An acquired taste for all the family? Possibly. However, there’s no denying that if you’ve got young men and women of a certain age in the family, then the Life and Legend exhibit at the British Museum could be a great way to spark their imagination. The first Viking-focused exhibit at the great venue for over 30 years is set to be loaded up with some fantastic discoveries, including the first full exhibition of the Vale of York Hoard as well as the exhibition of the mass grave first discovered at Weymouth in 2009. For young Viking Lovers, the Life and Legend exhibit is well worth a look.

The London Wetland Centre Those families whose younger children really love animals should head over to the WWT London Wetland Centre, who are planning to put on a series of mini events for the Easter break, all related to ducks. Pond-dipping is great fun, and there’s something really peaceful about following the Spring Trail on a beautiful sunny day. For the more creative children, there are also a number of Easter art sessions taking place, with the focus on the creation of themed cards and paintings.

The Cutty Sark Easter Egg Hunt As one of the most notable marine landmarks in England, the Cutty Sark is a superb representation of the great age of sailing. What’s more, it’s an outstanding place to take the younger members of the family for a bit of an adventure. Over the Easter period, the Greenwich Museum (who operate the great ship) are getting involved and putting their own spin on the classic Egg Hunt. The ship’s chickens have been laying eggs in some fairly strange locations, and it’s down to the visitors to find them! As part of the hunt, there’s the opportunity to win a family ticket to Camp Bestival, one of the best family-focused festivals in the UK.

Kew Gardens Roald Dahl Event For those children that love Roald Dahl’s books (which is more or less any who’ve read them), there’s no better place to be this Easter than at the Kew Gardens. There are a whole host of activities taking place dedicated to the great author and yes, if you put Roald Dahl and Easter together, you get chocolate!
Some of the standout events include the chance for the little ones in the family to create their own Willy Wonka-inspired chocolate bar, an opportunity for them to watch some of the venue’s cooks prepare some stunning recipes, and a special talk detailing the history of chocolate. The great Dahl also casts his influence over the venue’s Great Glass Lift and the chance for the little ones to immerse themselves in the classic Revolting Rhymes.

Bunnies on the Run at the London Eye Unsurprisingly, one of London’s most renowned tourist attractions is also pushing the boat out for Easter. Edwin the Easter Bunny and all of his friends will be taking over the London Eye in order to offer some ‘choc-tastic’ entertainment. As well as the on-site entertainment (which includes a number of skilled circus performers), Edwin will be challenged to make as many mini eggs as possible for the visiting children. And yes, the chocolate eggs – made by no less than the delicious Hotel Chocolat – will be free! There are also a few activities in place for mom and dad, with both the Hotel Chocolat Tasting Experience and the Afternoon Tea Experience ideal for those parents that fancy indulging themselves a bit.
