Visit to Posh Paws

By Tasneem Rajkotwala @tasu0704

Last Friday our family was at Posh Paws. This was the second time in two months we decided to take Little A there because he had a great time when we were last there! Also we are making most of this wonderful weather in the Middle East by doing more of outdoor activities like visiting beaches and parks before the summer starts to get unbearable. Posh Paws is an animal sanctuary and a petting farm located on Al Khwaneej road very close to Khawaneej Municipality Vet (it can be easily located on Google Maps). We went ahead of the round-about the first time we visited but this time we were able to locate it very easily. Most of the pets are well taken care of and put up for adoption. So if you are looking to give them a home or donate, you are free to contact them.

Posh Paws is a small “one of it’s kind”  petting farm in Dubai where you can hold, touch and feed the four legged (also two legged) animals. It makes for a great learning for children of all ages. Animals include ponies, ostriches, cows, donkey, deers, snake, rabbits, tortoises, baboons, goats, ducks, dogs, cats, emus and many more birds like parrots, love birds, flamingos, etc. We even spotted peahen this time on the top of the tin roof! Since we were already there last month, we knew exactly what food will be suitable to carry. We took some grapes, bananas, cucumbers, carrots, lettuce leaves and tomatoes. But you are free to carry any food, the animals are more than happy to be fed off your hands! The animals are so well trained and friendly, I can assure you of no accidents at all.

This place is lovely and something very rare to find in Dubai. If you live in UAE and haven’t been here, I recommend it strongly because of the wonderful experience it gives in return. Its best to visit before it gets dark. Little A enjoyed feeding ducks, cow, parrots and goats.  He also loved carrying a hamster in his arms and patting lovingly on the lamb’s back. There was a time when a goat jumped off it’s fence and came running towards a packet of food hubby was holding. It had us in splits but it caused us no harm. Here are some photos from that day -

If you can, take a trip down to the sanctuary, enjoy a fantastic day out, and maybe make a small donation. What they are in need of is someone to look and foster the animals since they arrive at Posh Paws in terrible state and then looked after by a team of the animal sanctuary.
