Vipul Mehta, the boy from Amritsar has been declared the winner of Indian Idol 6, the grand finale of which was held on 1st September 2012, i.e., Saturday evening. The show was aired on Sony Entertainment Television (India).
Vipul, a mass communication graduate defeated Devendra Pal Singh and Amit Kumar, who also hailed from Punjab. The show started with power packed performances by the contestants.
Actress Kareena Kapoor along with director Madhur Bhandarkar was present on the finale for the promotion of their upcoming film ‘Heroine’. They along with the judges of the show Asha Bhonsle, Sunidhi Chauhan, Anu Malik and Salim Merchant declared the results and also gave away the prize money to Vipul.
The winner boy, Vipul walked away with a cash prize of 50 Lakh rupees, a Nissan Micra car, a Suzuki Hayate motorcycle, a trophy and three Lakh rupees from Max Life Insurance and also a contract of a music album with Universal music.
