Picking up right where book 1 ended, Veil and Dante are on the move. Confused as hell about what just happened, Dante takes Veil to a diner to hide out for a bit. In the conversation that is going on at the table, Veil doesn’t seem to be in that trace she was in before. She is asking questions and seems normal. During this time, there are some individuals trying to figure out what happened with the murders. Some sort of spiritual guru named Cormac is there but something shady is going on. Cormac does something ridiculous! Just read it to see. Back at the diner, a couple of cops come in on break but Veil starts to flip out. What made her? I’m not too sure. The cops intervene and one tries to abuse his power with Veil, but she gave it to him alright. The ending of this book leaves the suspense there. We now know that Cormac is going to play more of a role in this story…and so are these rats that we keep seeing.
Since the first book came out last month, I have had this story on my mind. I wasn’t sure of the path it was going to take. Then I read the letters at the end of this story. Readers like you and me wrote in to Greg Rucka with their thoughts and questions about the book and he himself “answered” them. That really helped me some. It’s a nice bonus to the story line to get a little behind the scenes perspective on it. The supernatural/horror concept to this story is interesting. It can fit in so many different audiences and the ability to keep me wanting to read more…well that right there is what makes this a great comic.
