Although he officially retired from his namesake atelier several years ago, Valentino Garavani has no intention of slowing down and depriving the world of his genius.  But his latest creations aren't appearing on a runway, but on a stage.  Really, where else do they belong?
Mr. Valentino has collaborated with the famed New York City Ballet to construct 16 magnificent costumes for their Fall Gala.  “I am a great fan of the ballet, and it has always been my dream to design costumes for the New York City Ballet and to work with Peter Martins, who has been a friend for over 30 years," said Valentino to Style.com.  From the looks of these beauties, it clear that Mr. Valentino brought his signature haute couture detailing to every stitch and bead.
To celebrate the debut of these gorgeous costumes (and the spectacular ballet), New York's finest ladies and gentlemen gathered at the aforementioned Fall Gala, held on Thursday night at Lincoln  Center.  Anne Hathaway looked every inch the nymph in her Valentino gown and Karolina Kurkova brought the requisite signature red to the carpet.
I especially love the photo of Sarah Jessica Parker posing with Valentino Garavani.  Not only did SJP look lovely, but she is just beaming standing next to The Last Emperor.  I read that she was instrumental in bringing Mr. Valentino together with the New York City Ballet and, for that, we all owe her a huge debt of gratitude. I greatly encourage you all to check out the insider view of Valentino's ballet creations here. Valentino's Ballet
