Urban Exploration at...December ThievesBronze Shark Tooth Necklace by Izobel and Ezra, $110 at December Thieves.
WHERE:Located on Harrison Avenue next to the SoWa artists' studios. this unique store bridges the gap between the neighborhood's built-in art sensibilities and the worldliness of Boston at large.
WHAT:Proprietress Lana Barakat travels nearly year-round to source her ecclectic offerings, and when it comes to curation, Lana really knows what she's doing; The store is packed with treasures like candles in authentic Balinese offering tins, handmade clay bowls, supple leather bags from Collina Strada, trays from Ibride featuring cheeky oil paintings of animals in full Victorian regalia, Moroccan slippers, and of course, jewelry - including the in-house line Lana designs.
HOW MUCH:There are handmade goodies from every price range, so if you're not ready to splurge on a sumptuous Collina Strada bag, there are plenty of jewelry finds under $100, housewares under $30, and special objets -think ice cream spoons and matchbooks - under $15.
WHO:World travelers, out-of-the-box thinkers, and fans of Anthropologie - with a preference for local - will love coming here for housewarming gifts, accessories, or special treats to keep!
