Unlock Your Mac With Just a Touch of Your iPhone

Posted on the 15 November 2013 by Anna Peterson

Mac and iPhone users no longer need to lock up their computers with a password. Now there is an easier way to do it: an app that lets you unlock your Mac by simply pressing the phone. This iPhone app is called Knock. If you need to leave your computer and do not want your colleagues or anyone else to have the access to your computer, you would unlock it, right?

All you need to do to lock your Mac is a light press on your paired iPhone. The two units are connected via Bluetooth Low Energy, which allows the phone to detect the connected computer automatically, as it approaches and then you will receive a message on the screen. The Knock app is really easy to use and it only takes a few minutes to set it up. First you need to turn on the computer, then you should get the note on the connected iPhone. On your computer, you will see your user account and the green ring around it. Click twice on the phone (front or rear) and the computer will be locked up. The app must be open in the background, but not active or running in order to work. It is compatible with iOS 7.o  devices or later.
