Unchained Melody by The Righteous Brothers.

I don’t know why this song came to mind today. I remember it in an episode of The Wonder Years. Kevin was at a dance watching everyone with their dates. The future him was looking back and saying. “All of our young lives we search for someone to love. Someone that makes us complete. We choose partners and change partners. We dance to a song of heartbreak and hope. All the while wondering if somewhere, somehow, there’s someone perfect who might be searching for us.” At that moment, Winnie walks in right at the ending lyrics of “I need your love…” from this song. Watch the scene HERE.

Unchained Melody was released as a single in July of 1965 from the album, Just Once in My Life. The lyrics were written by Hy Zaret and the music by Alex North. It was originally released in 1955 before being re-recorded by The Righteous Brothers. It was featured in the 1990 film Ghost, starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore.

The single spent 13 weeks on the chart making #4 on Billboard’s Hot 100.
