Twin Flame Separation and Human Being: Why Connection Feels Lost

Dear Human, What Were You Taught About Being?

Twin Flame Separation and Human Being: Why Connection Feels Lost

What many call the “runner” in twin flame separation is often a masculine nervous system that learned to disconnect from feeling before it ever had words for what it felt.

Understanding the Masculine Nervous System in Twin Flame Separation

By Lee Patterson | The Connectionist | Twin Flames: Lee and Sherry’s 11-Year Daily Union

Nobody taught you how to be.

They taught you how to perform. How to behave. How to manage yourself so the people around you would not feel uncomfortable. They taught you how to think correctly, speak correctly, show up correctly. They built a version of you that could survive in a world full of people who were also only ever taught how to survive.

But being? Nobody touched it. Nobody even named it.

Twin Flame Separation Begins Before the Relationship

And then one day you met someone, and something happened in your body that you could not explain with any of the rules they gave you. Something opened. Something recognized. And no amount of thinking has been able to close it since.

That person is what people call a twin flame. And the reason you cannot stop feeling them is not because you are broken or obsessed or spiritually incomplete. The reason is that they woke up the part of you that was never taught how to be. The Being underneath the human.

The Difference Between Being Human and Being a Human Being

Most people spend their entire lives as human beings who never actually learn what the second word means.

The word “human” points to the thinking mind. The survival system. The part of you shaped by every family you were born into, every wound that went unwitnessed, every moment you learned to override what your body was feeling so you could keep belonging somewhere. That is the human. That part is real and it deserves compassion. But it is not all of you.

The word “being” points to something older than thought. Something that exists before the first story you were ever told about yourself. It lives in the body. It speaks through feeling, not language. It cannot be analyzed or argued with. It can only be felt.

Being is what you are. Human is what you learned to do.

The twin flame journey breaks you open right at that seam. It cracks the human layer just enough that the being underneath starts moving again. And the nervous system is the place where that movement lives. Not the mind. Not the emotions as you were taught to manage them. The nervous system. The body itself.

Being to Being: What Actually Happens in a Twin Flame Connection

Sherry and I have been in daily union since 2013. Together since 2007. I am not writing to you from a place of theory. I am writing from inside seventeen years of what it actually feels like when two nervous systems stop performing for each other and start meeting each other instead.

What I can tell you is this: the connection you feel with your twin flame is not happening in your thoughts. It never was. Your thoughts are reacting to it. There is a difference.

The connection is nervous system to nervous system. Being to being. It is the same thing described two different ways.

When two people meet at the level of being, the body knows before the mind has any words for it. That knowing is not romantic fantasy. It is somatic fact.

The psoas muscle, which runs from the lower spine through the pelvis and into the upper thigh, is one of the deepest muscles in the human body. It is also the primary muscle of survival response. It is where unfelt fear lives. Where unprocessed grief contracts. Where the body holds decades of moments when it was not safe to simply be.

The vagus nerve runs from the brainstem through the heart and into the gut. It is the body’s primary communication highway between the nervous system and every organ that matters for connection. When it is regulated, you can be present. You can feel. You can stay. When it is dysregulated, you disappear into thought, into reaction, into the survival patterns the human learned long before you ever met your twin flame.

The Connectionist Loop I teach connects four nodes: the psoas, the vagus nerve, the mind, and connection itself. When those four nodes are working together, the noise stops. The thinking quiets. What is left is being. And being is where the real twin flame union lives.

Why the Twin Flame Journey Keeps Pulling You Back to Your Body

People come to me from over thirty countries. They have read everything. They know the runner and chaser dynamic. They know the separation stages. They know what a mirror soul is supposed to mean. And they are still in pain, still cycling, still waiting for something to change outside of them.

Here is what I tell them: the twin flame journey is not asking you to understand something. It is asking you to feel something you have been taught your whole life not to feel.

The separation you are experiencing is not primarily distance between you and another person. It is distance between you and your own being. That is the only separation that has ever been real. And the nervous system is the bridge back.

You cannot think your way into union. You can only feel your way there.

This is why the spiritual content that keeps you analyzing stages and timelines and signs keeps you stuck. The mind consumes it, produces more thoughts, and calls that progress. But the body is still contracted. The psoas is still gripping. The vagus nerve is still broadcasting threat. And the being underneath all of it is still waiting.

What Sherry and I Found After 11 Years of Daily Union

I want to be honest with you about what long-term union actually looks like, because most of what gets written about twin flames either idealizes it into something unreachable or uses it as a marketing hook for products that keep you in the seeker position.

It is not perfect. It is not without friction. Two nervous systems living in daily proximity will find every unhealed place in each other, every residue of survival patterning, every moment the human in one person tries to override the being in the other.

What makes it work is not love as a feeling. Feelings come and go. What makes it work is the commitment to keep returning to being when the human takes over. To feel rather than perform. To stay in the body rather than retreat into thought. To let the nervous system settle rather than escalating into the story the mind wants to run.

Being to being connection is not a destination you arrive at. It is a practice you return to. Every day. In the small moments. In the difficult ones. That is what real twin flame union is made of.

Sherry and I are proof not because we are exceptional people, but because we kept coming back to the body. We kept choosing feeling over managing. We kept choosing being over performing. Seventeen years of that choice is what a lived union looks like from the inside.

The Truth About Being That Nobody Taught You

Here is what you were not taught:

You are not primarily a thinker who happens to have a body. You are a body that learned to think in order to survive. The being was always there first. Underneath every survival strategy, underneath every adaptation, underneath every story the mind built to explain why you feel what you feel, the being is still there. Still whole. Still waiting.

The twin flame connection activated it. That is why it does not behave like other relationships. That is why it does not respond to the rules you learned for managing human connection. It is not operating at the human level. It is operating at the being level. And you cannot manage your way there. You can only arrive by feeling.

The nervous system is the instrument. The body is the home. Being is what lives there. And no thought, no matter how true it sounds, can take you to a place that only the body knows how to reach.

How to Begin Coming Home to Your Being

The work I do is called Root Camp. It is not a course. It is not a program you complete and leave. It is a live, one-on-one process where I work directly with your nervous system to begin releasing what the body has been holding so that being becomes accessible again. Not as a concept. As a felt experience.

If you are not ready for that yet, here is where to start:

1. Stop trying to figure out the twin flame connection.

Every time you analyze it, you pull yourself further from where the answer lives. The mind is not the tool for this. Let the thoughts come. Do not chase them. Notice what is happening in your body underneath the thought. That is the beginning.

2. Find the contraction.

Somewhere in your body right now there is a place that is holding. The chest. The gut. The base of the spine. That holding is not a problem to solve. It is a being waiting to be felt. Stay with it. Breathe into it. Do not try to release it. Just feel it.

3. Let the nervous system set the pace.

The human wants urgency. It wants resolution, reunion, answers, timelines. The being has none of those demands. It only asks to be felt. When you stop demanding that the nervous system move faster than it can, it begins to move on its own. That is when things change.

Dear Human, This Is What Being Feels Like

You have been taught to think. To perform. To manage what you feel so it does not inconvenience the survival systems of the people around you.

Nobody taught you how to be.

But your body already knows. It has always known. The twin flame connection did not create that knowing. It just cracked open enough of the human layer for you to feel it again.

That feeling, underneath the longing, underneath the grief, underneath the confusion, that is being. And it is not lost. It is not broken. It is not waiting for your twin flame to do something different. It is waiting for you to stop thinking long enough to feel it.

Being to being. Nervous system to nervous system. That is the only real twin flame union there has ever been. The rest is the human trying to manage what only the being can complete.
