Stomach aches are some of the most common pains that people experience on a daily basis. They vary from bloating to cramps among others.
Before seeing a doctor, there are some easy remedies one can do at home to alleviate the pain:
1. Water
Drinking alot of water. The slightest form of dehydration slows down digestion which often is the cause of a tummy ache after a meal.
2. Lying down
Lying flat on a surface can make acid travel upwards and cause a heartburn or more discomfort. If anything, one should sit upright especially after a meal. But if one must lay down, prop yourself with a pillow at 30 degree angles or more.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar
Vinegar alleviates an upset stomach caused by indigestion and also helps reduce cramping and discomfort from the gas. This is achieved by mixing one cup of warm water with one table spoon apple cider vinegar and one table spoon of honey.
4. Heat
Higher external temperatures tend to relax muscles all over the body. Applying direct heat on the stomach using a hot-water bottle or applying a hot towel can ease abdominal pains.
Another option is to take warm or hot water as this helps with bloating, gas and even abdominal cramps.
5. Coconut water
Known to have high levels of potassium and magnesium, coconut water helps reduce pain. It can be taken in higher amounts than water due to the added natural flavor during rehydration without one feeling nauseated.
6. Bananas
Many stomach aches such as cramps, muscle spasms can be aided with the ingestion of folate, Vitamin B6 and potassium all which are found in a banana.
7.Rest
Your body can be strained from rigorous physical activities including exercise or doing a lot more work than your body is used to.
Rest allows your body to restore the body functions to its normal pace.
