True Blood’s Jurnee Smollett-Bell Joins Cast of ‘A Trip to Bountiful’

The final cast has been announced for the revival of the Tony-nominated stage production of A Trip to Bountiful and True Blood’s Jurnee Smollett-Bell (who played Nicole in the HBO vampire series) has been named among the cast. While her role title has yet to be disclosed, you can view the synopsis for this production below:

The Trip to Bountiful” tells the story of Mother Watts, played by Tyson. She is an elderly woman forced to live with her overprotective son, played by Underwood, and domineering daughter-in-law played byWilliams. Mother Watts’ dream is to return for one last time to her small hometown of Bountiful, Texas. Her journey becomes a heartbreaking but ultimately life-affirming and inspiring tale that examines the fragility of memory and celebrates the enduring power of hope, faith and family.

The full cast list includes Cicely Tyson, Vanessa Williams, Blair Underwood, Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Devon Abner, Wade Dooley, Arthur French, Pat Bowie, Russell Edge, Dalila Ali Rajah, Keiana Richa’rd, Duane Shepard, Sr. and Desean Kevin Terry. It will be directed by Michael Wilson.
